PSEQ

The Pain Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (PSEQ) is a short questionnaire that measures how confident you feel about carrying out everyday activities while living with ongoing pain.

The questionnaire contains 10 questions that ask about your confidence in doing things such as household tasks, work, social activities, and maintaining an active lifestyle despite pain. It focuses on what you believe you can do, rather than how severe your pain is.

Your responses help your healthcare provider understand how pain is affecting your daily life and independence. The results can be used to guide treatment, set rehabilitation goals, and monitor your progress over time

Please rate how confident you are that you can do the following things at present despite the pain.

Remember, this questionnaire is not asking whether or not you have been doing these thing, but rather how confident you are that you can do them at present despite the pain

≥40 (90th percentile) indicate high self-efficacy associated with successful return to work 18-29 (48th-75th percentile) represent moderate self-efficacy; 5-17 (12th-45th percentile) suggest low self-efficacy requiring targeted intervention 0-4 (<10th percentile) indicate very low self-efficacy needing intensive support.
